2 minute Mexican Blue Amberol Cylinder

Post by nalanotrig »

Hello out there. I was drawn to this website when I was looking up information about 2 minute Blue Amberol Mexican cylinders. I do not collect any antique players or records. I do have my old 45's from my childhood. All 78's, discs and cylinders are my Dad's. He is 93 and someday it will be my task to dispose and disperse his collection. This is a task I am not looking forward too. Anyhow, it seemed as there was some interest by some about Mexican cylinder recordings, so I thought I would get on here and show what my dad has and see what some might comment about them. I will attempt to attach a list of them that my dad made out in 1998. Alan

Wow, most of us have never seen one of these in person, and yet you have a dozen or so! And to top it all off, nearly all have their original lids too!

Again, WOW!! :o :o

How common are Mexican cylinders? Some time ago I read about Blue Amberol type records that were 2 minute format in the Mexican market.

Very interesting, would love to hear them.

I once bought 13 Mexican 2M Blue Amberol cylinders from a collection, but I sold 3 of them about 30 years ago before I had any idea what they were worth. In my experience, they are fairly rare. I have seen a couple on eBay fetch $75-100. None of the 10 that I still have came with any boxes, so I would love to see clear photographs of the boxes and the tops! Hopefully yours have been nicely preserved in their boxes with fewer surface abrasions than mine. All of mine are played in the same style and start to sound the same after hearing a few.
