Home recording was still in full swing in 1906. The four-minute record was yet to be announced, Two-minute records, and recording on two-minute records was still the standard. To do so well required a special purpose horn. Recording horns were predominantly long and skinny to focus the sound waves into the record. The Linenoid recording horn followed this formula. This horn is 27 inches long with a 6 inch bell. There is a metal ring to hang the horn, as well as a metal end to attach it to the reproducer. Other than that, it is as described, being molded out of linen.

Linen, as a medium for horns, didn't fare so well over time, especially when subjected to extreme temperature, or wet conditions. Most Linenoid horns are, well a complete mess. This one has fared much better than most. Other than the paint loss seen, which is actually negligible for these horns, it is a very solid example. It retains the original metal hanging ring and metal end to attach to the reproducer. It even retains much of the gold banding decoration. While Linenoid horns are not all that common, the recording horn version is not common at all. That is especially true in this condition.

The price is $175.00 plus shipping to you. No PayPal on this, but checks are fine.
