From The Talking Machine World February 15, 1908 issue we find an ad for the Utica Crane Company and Utica, New York. Prominently featured is an Automatic Stopper for the Edison Standard and Home Phonographs. As can be seen in the ad, the Automatic Stopper for the Edison Home was significantly different, and much simpler than that for the Edison Standard. I've created a larger image on the Home Automatic stopper from the ad.
For sale today is an Automatic Stopper for the Edison Home. Not much is known of the Automatic Stopper from the Utica Crane Company. They first advertised the Automatic Stopper for the Edison Home in the October 1907 issue of The Talking Machine World. The also offered an adjusting device for the Edison crane.
Even more obscure, I also have one for sale that looks exactly like the version for the Edison Home, but is wider, and fits on an Edison Triumph. I cannot find this advertised anywhere!
Both were made for the model B version or later that had the extra support piece above the half-nut bar. Both are in very good condition, with the appropriate screw to attach them to the machine. Both work well, stopping the rotation of the machine through the pressure exerted by the moving carriage against the Automatic stopper. Both are very hard to find.
The price: $75.00 for each plus shipping to you. No PayPal on this, but checks are fine.
