A friend who lives overseas has sent me a package containing a pair of Max Wurcker reproducers, one two minute and one four minute, and a Sykes Electrograph electric pickup for Edison Blue Amberol cylinders. I know that even air post takes weeks, but can hardly contain my anticipation.
I have not been so anxious about any parcel since I was perhaps twelve.

OK I'm jealous, wish they were on the way to my house. Congratulations on you purchase.

And impatient.
I could never really have afforded to have purchased them. When I said old friend I really meant FRIEND. Quite possibly the most generous fellow I've known. I feel very lucky.rgordon939 wrote:OK I'm jealous, wish they were on the way to my house. Congratulations on you purchase.

Which? The Wurcker or the Sykes?BwanaJoe wrote:May I ask why? I am not familiar with that make of reproducer.
Search this website using "Wurcker" to find pictures and descriptions.
Google "Sykes Electrograph" and you will find information and even a video. Those must be incredibly rare, I have never seen one except on the Internet. I would love to have one.

Ahh, it is the rarity of the reproducor then.
Does it subjectively sound better than standard as well?

Re: On pins and needles...
Here is a picture of my Max Wurcker reproducers on the right side. The Max Wurcker's have a much larger body and do have greater volume. As you can see the neck is much larger also making it hard to find a horn to fit. Most people use an adapter to make horns fit.
