WANTED: Brake Assembly for earliest HMV 102

Hi all,

I'm after the entire autobrake assembly for the earliest of the 102s (the auto shut off only model with the sunken motor). I also need the part that attaches to the tonearm to activate the brake that was specific to this model.

The earliest 102, with the sunken motor was fitted with two different types of autobrake. The very first, or "universal" brake utilised the revolving cam on the top of the motor, whilst the second was the same as fitted to all the subsequent 102s. Which one do you want?

Hi Barry,

The machine has the sunken motor and the cam is also present. The brake "arm" attached to the bottom of the tone arm however is of the later type.

Do you have the frame that the brake is mounted on? And what is fitted on the underside of the turntable centre, a copper ring with a small bit bent out at right angles, or a collar like a cog, with about six "teeth"? I'm asking because I may be able to help with an autobrake, but not the lever attached to the arm. But if the turntable has the copper ring, you can fit the later style of brake, which would still be authentic.

As you can see from these photos, both versions of the brake have a bracket to raise them to the correct height. Getting hold of either of these, plus the arm lever could be a problem! If you could find the later version, you could fit that, but you would need to cut the stem of the cam off, and replace the turntable.
