SOLD: 1897 Caseless Graphophone Eagle, Horn- $450

Post by long_island_phono »

I'd like to offer this caseless and tagless early Graphophone Type B to the members of the forum. I purchased this for my collection mainly to use for brown wax playback however I find myself using my Triumphs more often than not.

Given the low serial number I assume this is an 1897 production Eagle, complete with original horn inscribed with the owners name and initials- "O.C.D." ...pretty appropriate for the detail-oriented phonograph enthusiast.

The motor is pretty quiet for an early Eagle and can play through a 2-minute cylinder with ease. The governor weight assembly will need to be shifted a tad as the speed has always been a bit fast. If I get some time later today I'll take care of this... don't ask me why I haven't bothered in 3 or so years I have owned this.

The reproducer has new diaphragm glass and plays well. The box is dated 1898 but did not come with the machine. I am not sure if the box is appropriate for 1897 but I am including it anyway.

The J.W. Meyers cylinder " My Old New Hampshire Home" and matching box has been on display with the machine so that's included as well. It plays fairly loud and clear.

Price is $450 with free shipping. I will probably be attending the Stanton's auction so I could also hand deliver. I'd prefer a Paypal payment however other methods are fine as well.

Let me know if you have any questions or would like more photos.
