Marines' Hymn cylinder record?

I'm having some difficulty locating an online index of cylinder records to see if there was ever a record sold of the Marines' Hymn.

I see lots of records by the Marine Corps Band so I would have hoped that there would be a record out there somewhere. The time period seems to be just right for a cylinder record too.

Can anyone out there either refer me to a nicely collated list (this is a magically perfect list that lives in my imagination) of records or just come out and smash my fantasy?

truesoundtransfers.de has a free, downloadable excel spreadsheet of all Edison cylinders and discs. There are a couple of other brands available there too. There is no single consolidation of all brands.

I, too, have been looking for a good reference list for Edison cylinders -- I notice truesoundstranfers does not list so many of mine (and I only have ~100) ? !

Any [other] suggestions? On-line (read "free") would be great, but I'd also be interested in print references...

One of the major shortcomings of the truesoundtransfers cylinder file is that it seems to only list directly recorded cylinders. Anything dubbed from a Diamond Disc - which is almost everything after about 1915 - appears in the Diamond Disc index with a cross reference to the BA number.

If you want books, Alan Sutton's Edison cylinder books are available from Mainspring Press. Occasionally you can find "bumped" copies on ebay for less than full retail.

I also created tabs for my own cylinders and DDs that automatically lookup information from the master sheets. I only need to input the catalog number. If you are interested in a copy please let me know.

Thanks! Good find. I'm fairly sure this is his own recording, I was hoping to find something from the actual period.

You can open up each catalog and search. There are some very interesting tidbits.

I've never found a recording of the piece at all before WWII - perhaps it wasn't all that popular.

Here's a dumb question. When was the Marine Corps Hymn written? I don't believe I've seen any recording of it, on disc or cylinder or music box disc, before the start of WW2.
