Questions regarding a new purchase from eBay

Post by wtt11 »

I got a phonograph parts lot from eBay including an DD adapter, an Edisonic reproducer, some more than 275 Meritone needles, a Pathé stylus and two stylus for playing DD on 78s machine. Can anyone identify the adapter below? Is that made by Edison or after market? The DD reproducer shows some dirts. How should I treat it to bring its second life back? Thanks in advance!

I believe that may be an Edison product.

Edison did briefly offer a lateral adapter around 1914, but soon withdrew it, because it was cutting into their own record sales.
They did not offer one again until the late '20s, iirc. The photo seems to match the illustration in Frow's DD book.

As for the plating on the Edisonic , some gentle cleaning with ammonia should brighten the gold.
