Any recommendations for books on Edison cylinders?
]I already have the Ron Dethlefson books on Blue Amberols which reproduce some of the record slips for some of the Blue Amberol records as well as including other related Edison literature. One problem with the Dethlefson books is the information on the individual records is hit and miss since the book doesn't include all of the record slips. So I frequently look up a BA serial number only to find it is not included in the book. I'm thinking of buying the Allan Sutton books on Edison 2 min. cylinders and Blue Amberols, but can't find any reviews or detailed descriptions of what is included in the books. Can anyone help me? Thanks, Marc.

I have Sutton's wax Amberol and Blue Amberol books. Both are highly detailed discographies of every regular release (and known special releases), both American and foreign. They include recording dates (when known), release or listing dates, artist pseudonyms, medley contents, and cross references to other releases. Both books also include brief histories of the appropriate medium. They aren't books you're going to sit down and read through, but as reference books, they are indispensable.
I do not have the 2M book but I would assume it's the same sort of thing. I've had Koenigsberg's 2M book (which is largely based on Deakins' index book) for years, but given the choice, I prefer Sutton's format.
The Blue Amberol book occasionally shows up on ebay as a "bumped" book for a greatly reduced price. My "bumped" book had a ½" tear in the shrink wrap that caused a barely perceptible rub to the cover.
