Any new Diamond Disc Records?

A number of people are making new cylinder records, but has anyone explored the possibility of making "new" Diamond Disc records?

If memory serves, one of these sold on eBay within the last year for quite a bit of money.

There are a couple of people who are making molded copies of existing discs. I've seen them at Wayne once or twice.

1) The few molded copies I've seen were of Let Us Not Forget, which is expensive even if it's not particularly rare. The molded copies are a bit cheaper.

2) If an affordable process can be found, new discs could be made of post-1929 records. Records made before 1963 are public domain in the EU (but not in the USA), so the licensing costs there would be minimal.

I am interested in some new Diamond Disc records, hoping they might possibly be less expensive than some nice 52000 series California Ramblers stuff. I almost never see that kind of material for sale, and lets all be honest, I love all my Edison machines, Cylinder and Diamond Disc, but the music available is for the most part dreary. I would love to see someone dip into the late 20's Victor catalog and release some hot jazz on Diamond Disc. OK, they would be "Fantasy" pieces, but fun to listen to sometimes. I have about a dozen Vaughn DeLeath discs, and a few better Rolfe 5200 series discs, but I do not wonder why Edison went out of business considering the material he was releasing. Or, is my view of the 1928 music buying customer wrong?

Edison had some older 1800 century taste in music, this is a contributing factor to the demise of the company, toward the end it was a different story, as Edison's son was able to slip through some more hot jazz and dance recordings. The decision to change came too late. Most people were buying the hot titles released by Victor etc. in 1928. Edison did put some hot titles out toward the end, unfortunately they are rare and expensive today.

The truth is, "Greetings" is not the most entertaining record to listen to or play for guests, regardless of rarity. It is mildly interesting. I listened to mine twice and said, "hmmm, that's okay" and filed it away. I could think of better selections to duplicate.
