In today's world there seems to be an app for this and an app for that.
Are there any apps that can be used to measure turntable speed?

I use one of these:

Not an app, but inexpensive and It works quite well.

The app I use with my Android is "RPM Calculator". It is simple, fast and reliable. Turn it on, place the phone on the turntable, and start the turntable. Presto!

Thanks for bringing this app to my attention. It beats using a strobe.fran604g wrote:The app I use with my Android is "RPM Calculator". It is simple, fast and reliable. Turn it on, place the phone on the turntable, and start the turntable. Presto!

That's an interesting app, though I got a little cross-eyed and dizzy watching the phone spin around on the turntable at 78 rpm!fran604g wrote:The app I use with my Android is "RPM Calculator". Now, how to strap it to a cylinder mandrel!

You're welcome. I've been using it for well over a year, and I love it.GrafonolaG50 wrote:Thanks for bringing this app to my attention. The first time I used it, I thought my phone would fly right off the turntable.

Back when I was doing CD transfers of 78s for my own small label, I made this speed disk. Under fluorescent lighting it works great.

Feel free to download it and print it out.

Mine has a smooth case, and as such my VV-IV tossed it like a pitching machine.fran604g wrote:barnettrp21122 wrote:That's an interesting app, though I got a little cross-eyed and dizzy watching the phone spin around on the turntable at 78 rpm!fran604g wrote:The app I use with my Android is "RPM Calculator". The first time I used it, I thought my phone would fly right off the turntable. But it didn't. I have a silicone case on the phone, and it stayed put perfectly.
