Early Amberola 30 Motor Noise

Post by Victrolacollector »

I have a early Amberola 30 with the speed adjusting screw and the later one without the speed adjustment. My machine with the speed adjustment sounds noiser. Were the motors more noiser on these earlier machines?

I've owned both early and late Amberola 30s and there was no difference in motor noise. Jerry Blais

Were the motors the same? I am wondering if it is the governor gear?

I'm not an authority but believe there was very little mechanical difference from beginning to the end of the Amberola 30/50/75 era. The actual differences were very minor such as the adjustment of the governor or differences in the winding pawl. I'd welcome other more experienced opinions. Jerry B.
