Repro Morning Glory Crane Problems

I've been having problems with a repro morning glory crane. It's a recent reproduction, designed for the Triumph 12 panel morning glory horn. However when I set it up, the crane under the weight of the horn, and doesn't allow the horn end to come close enough to the machine to connect it with a rubber connector. Plus, the whole crane assemble seems to be a bit unstable and swingy, even without the horn.

Can you guys think of any obvious crane setup mistakes that I may be making?

Here are some pics; if your wondering about the largish piece of wood resting on the back of the machine, it's to prevent the machine from tipping, since it doesn't have it's motor in currently. As you can see in the pics, the horn is bending the crane so it is way too low, and the horn end is nowhere near the reproducer.

The sliding part of the crane appears to be too far out, is it seated all the way down to the stop, you might want to bring it up some from the stop, for the larger horn? I usually drill and tap a hole in the foot and put a period blued, slotted, round head machine screw through it, to tighten the crane down,the original foot has a pin through them, and a slot in the crane so it don't swing all over.

The straight section of the crane is completely seated in the bent section, it doesn't go in any further. If I shortened the straight section of the crane, and the chain (it looks like it is too long), should that solve the problem? Thanks for your advice about the screw, definetely sounds like a good idea. What about the holder that goes under the bedplate frame? It appears to be too long.

The crane is too big for a Home. The same crane on a Triumph would be right as the case is taller with a bigger molding on the bottom to true it up. The combination of a taller machine and greater molding pulling truing up the crane would probably make it work fine on a Triumph.

shortening the rod should work. I buy the neoprene horn connection hose usually in 10' long sections, so I cut off what is needed, a longer hose would work too. I buy my horn hose from Ron Sitko, when I go to Union.

Valecnik: Since there is a larger space from the front of the case to the carriage on a Triumph, that would make the crane hold the horn even further away from the machine, right? Plus the higher case, would only make the horn that much lower thant the reproducer...Let me know if I'm getting something wrong...

I think to remember that the reproduction morning glory cranes need to be shortened to fit the horn they are used with. Don't remember who told me, maybe it was Ron Sitko? I would ask the person you bought your reproduction crane from.

Hello,
All you need to do is take a hack saw and cut down the straight piece of the rod to the correct length. I have had to do this several times. I would also shorten the rod chain.
