Hit of the Week 1040 - Sample Record

Post by CDBPDX »

I just acquired a small collection of HOTW records, including HOTW 1040, a sample record featuring Phil Spitalny's Statler Pennsylvanians performing the University of Maine Stein Song. The recording also features a spoken introduction describing how wonderful the new HOTW records are.

The words SAMPLE RECORDING are printed in blue just below the HOTW banner. This is the first HOTW sample I've seen like this. I've seen others with the word SAMPLE stamped on the label, but none printed.

Was HOTW 1040 only issued as a sample record? Or are there other 1040's without the SAMPLE printing?

This is virtually the same song as HOTW 1036, though a shorter version.

You can hear this song here:

Thanks! Cliff

That's a nice find!
That is funny that the Sample number come after the standard version.
James.
