Just acquired a HIT OF THE WEEK phonograph. It needed a bit of repair but now it plays great!
This one has gold plated tone arm and reproducer, the first I've seen. Others I've seen have nickel plated hardware.
I have a nice collection of HOTW records and this phonograph plays them very nicely. Watch it playing on YouTube:

Nice machine, Cliff! That's the first I've seen with a gold arm & reproducer, too........Mine is nickel.
I have your HOW site "bookmarked" & listen to songs frequently.....Thanx for putting it on-line!
I have most of the run, but am still missing about 20 of the regular run plus A2 & A3 of the Durium Jr's. But I was lucky enough to find A5,
"De Trouble I've Seen" by Eva Taylor. It's a great song!

Re: 'HIT OF THE WEEK' Portable Phonograph
I am wondering who made the hardware for these (reproducer, tone arm and motor)? Was it Heineman?
Also, some time back there was a nice display of HOW needles that were sold, it was alot of packs of needles attached to the dealer display if I remember correctly. I have alot of HOW records and some doubles. I will probably list those over in the Yankee Trader section soon.
You definitely have a nice machine and great for a HOW display.

I believe Heineman was out of business (actually absorbed into another company) and this was probably built by Prime or Waters-Conley.Victrolacollector wrote:I am wondering who made the hardware for these (reproducer, tone arm and motor)? Was it Heineman?

This machine has a small General Industries 'Junior' motor. The single spring will play through 2 of the 3 minute records before rewinding.
