Myself, I used the feed and wax only. Whether or not it was needed I bought a tin of Howards paste wax and applied it. No real difference in look though. Feed and wax probably a bit better at penetrating the wood being more of a liquid but I am no expert.

I was just cleaning the metal parts, and noticed that the crank, escutcheon, escutcheon screws, record door knob, and trim screws have been painted over. I can see original gold plating peeking through the old paint. How can I remove this old gold paint without damaging the gold plating underneath?
