I was looking through the Boker estate auction catalog when I saw this very unusual machine. Does anyone know anything about this machine? There can't be very many examples like this one. It's just too odd.

I love it. It looks like is was designed by someone who had two jobs. One job was designing phonographs and the other was drawing animated cartoons. Jerry

That's strange...I thought this lot was being offered up through Donley's auction...audiophile102 wrote:I was looking through the Boker estate auction catalog when I saw this very unusual machine. It is run by Donley's auction services. I found this link from their web page. https://www.proxibid.com/asp/Catalog.asp?aid=113112gramophone78 wrote:That's strange...I thought this lot was being offered up through Donley's auction...audiophile102 wrote:I was looking through the Boker estate auction catalog when I saw this very unusual machine. Probably made by the Industria Metalwerkfabrik company, manufacturers of metal horns, in about 1913. A similar machine was marketed by Parlophon, the case of which may also have been made by Industria.
The metal case of the Parlophon was painted to resemble wood grain and an example was preserved in the EMI Collection, sadly dispersed many years ago.

The machine definitely has a certain panache. I'd be happy to own that.

I have now dug out my copy of the EMI Collection catalogue (1974 black and white) and here is the Parlophon :epigramophone wrote:Probably made by the Industria Metalwerkfabrik company, manufacturers of metal horns, in about 1913.
