Question about the Grille on an 1A and an A-250

Post by redson68 »

Does anyone know if the Grilles from an A-250 would work on a 1A?? Not sure if they are the same size. Thanks.

The grill is the same. Sometimes the frame is slightly different. I used an oak grill from a parts B-250 Diamond Disc and it was a perfect match for my Amberola 1-B. Jerry Blais

I would say they are "about" the same or intended to be interchangeable, could be interchanged with a little rework of the frame as Jerry notes.

I did a little experiment with a 1A, 1B and A-250 I have handy and found that:

- A-250 grill is a little too big, too tall to fit the Amberola 1A or 1B
- 1B grill won't fit the 250 or the 1A, (too thick for 250 and too tall for 1A)
- 1A grill loosely fits the 1B and the 250.

So, in my case the only one of the three that is interchangeable without alteration is the 1A grill. With some cautious alteration the A-250 and 1B grills could be made to fit.

The A-250 grill if trimmed down to fit the 1A or 1B would still have the cut out area around the post so you would know it came from an A-250 but only if inspecting the back side. :monkey:
