Columbia B Eagle clicking problem

Post by Victrolacollector »

I have a Columbia B and when the reproducer is lowered the machine makes a click like a snapping sound as it is unwinding. Sounds like a slipping gear. Sometimes it binds up. I think the problem is the gear assembly between the mainspring and feedscrew gear.

I did change the feedscrew out with one with a good gear. Has anyone on the forum had this problem?

I've had similar problems once or twice on different models of Graphophones, and each time I discovered that someone had installed the half-nut backwards. :)
