Hi;
I recently noticed a gear in my Grafonola's motor was tilted on its spindle and was making a subtle clicking sound. Today, I took the motor out of the cabinet to oil it. Once I finished oiling it and the motor back in the cabinet, I cranked it, and turned the start lever. I immediately heard a very loud clicking noise, and records would skip in one section without playing on from there. I took the TT off, started the motor again, and saw the gear hit the TT spindle & stop, over and over again. This is what was causing the clicking. It is the gear that is below the auto-stop lever that is straight, then curved at the end.
I was told to remove the auto-stop lever and the gear. Should I do that? If so, how do I remove the motor from the motor plate?
Columbia Grafonola f-2 motor help?
