What about these parts?

Most collectors stress the correct match for a machine. Look at this vintage photo and check out the horn choices. These look a bit odd, but period. That looks like a regular cygnet on an Opera, a radio horn on a coin op, and a cygnet on a concert?

Interesting photo. Looks like a B&W pic of someone's collection. The horn on the Opera certainly isn't what was issued with the machine, nor the one on the coin-op or the Concert next to it.
Check with your dealer for the latest Edison Records!

That's a photo of the Edison Winter Home in Ft. Myers, Florida. I've been there several times, and upon one occasion I sought out the man in charge. I was going to be in the area for a week or so, and offered to mate correct horns with machines and make suggestions on their inaccurate signage. I was careful to avoid giving offense, pointing out that they had a fabulous collection of phonographs, and it would only take a few hours' work (gratis, of course) to set up the phonographs properly and make the signage accurate... I'd be pleased to help...

The guy told me, "It doesn't matter - the public doesn't know the difference." Great attitude, huh?

i have seen that those pictures many times and i dont like looking at them...I would think some body at Edisons very own home would care about the proper place ment of horns.But now that i know they think the puplic wont care the pictures sicken me more.

hello my friends---i just had to reply. what does the "public" know? hell, people thought Milli-Vanilli could sing! as for the curators of that exhibition---it is a paycheck---accuracy is not an issue. as for my knowledgable fellow member who attempted to lend his time,expertise and insight ----i apologise for those who do not care (such as him). if you would have pummelled him in the head with a 2x4---i would have sent you bail money. i am far from an expert on phonographs, sir, but when you speak through this forum---I LISTEN! your friend michael
