Another #10 Soundbox For Sale

Post by gramophone78 »

It seems another ultra rare #10 is on the block. In the description, they state that approximately 3 are known with the original presentation case.

The case shown is for a common Exhibition reproducer....too bad...

Another small observation is the incorrect Exhibition needle screw.

Any thoughts on how high this will go...??.

He says..."This reproducer does not have an original box". So this is not one of those three.

It's a Donelly auction, in Union, Illinois. They know exactly what they have.

Just to clarify...it's Donley Auctions in Union Ill... ;). It would have been great to see with the correct case. That would have made it a (possible) fourth known.

Still, I wonder what it will realize..???.
Anyone remember what the last one sold for..??. Just curious.

Incredibly interesting and rare item but I don't think it will make opening bid.

Personally I don't think it will have any problem starting at it's opening bid.

Over the years I've never seen one sell for less than $3000 between knowledgeable collectors, with most selling between $4000 and $5000.

The one Stanton's sold last year hit a $8000 winning bid.

I don't know if anyone is keeping track of these #10 reproducers, and granted they are very rare. But I believe there are more out there than the small number that is used from time to time, with the original box and without.

In fact if it does have trouble meeting it's opening bid than I may just have two of them for the display case, one with the correct box and one with out.

Sorry about my spelling mistake. The seller knows exactly what he has. It will be interesting to see what the final price goes for. ;)

I'm with you Larry...if no one grabs it at the starting price....a pair on display would look pretty sweet... ;).

I forgot about the one that sold for $8k. Do you remember if it was with presentation case..??.AFAIK, there are at least 10-12 #10's known. I only know of three cased. However, I agree Larry, there may be others out there.

Has anyone kept record of the serial numbers of the known examples..??.

I recently purchased a Victor flyer introducing the "new" Victor 6 and the #10 soundbox. Based on this flyer, it appears the #10 & Exhibition (if preferred) were offered simultaneously.

The mystery of the $105 price still continues.
