Berliner Record Study

Post by msherman »

Greetings fellow hobbyists.

For the past two years or so, David Gio and I have been working on a study of 7" American Berliner records. Not a discography, but more of a study of labels, pressing materials etc...

We currently have about 1,100 unique, block series Berliners in our database, and are able to draw some interesting conclusions at this point.

If any of you out there have a group of Berliners and would be willing to add to our database, please let me know here and I'll forward the spreadsheet and instructions to you.

At this point, we have identified 5 recordings made in 1892, about 20 or so from 1894 and maybe 45-50 from 1895.

I'll be publishing this as a monograph sometime late this year, and anyone who helps with this effort will be sent a copy free of charge.

Thanks in advance,

Mike Sherman

Mike,

I think I remember sharing my list of 1895 Berliners with you a year or two ago, along with some other interesting ones, but if I can give any further assistance, please send me the spreadsheet and instructions. You have my email address... ;)

Best,
George P.
