I forgot about the one that sold for $8k. Do you remember if it was with presentation case..??.AFAIK, there are at least 10-12 #10's known. I only know of three cased. However, I agree Larry, there may be others out there.

I seem to remember that it did have the correct case and wondering what effect the box had on the price, but I'm not 100% positive. I would have to dig the Stanton's catalog out and see if there were any pictures of it

I believe the case was correct for the #10 reproducer. $8K was the hammer price. $8,800 with the buyers penalty added on.

I guess there is no point mentioning that for $8,800 you could probably buy two Victor Sixes... or something more useful than a dressed up Concert reproducer.

Stanton's had one last fall that went for $8000 plus the 10% buyers premium as stated in this thread. Chris gave me the box with the reproducer in it to look at, and it was the complete original box with it.

I feel some of the opening prices are high for some items. Especially with the way prices have been headed in our hobby. I'm seeing machines with the wrong parts on them and not at all original. Has anyone been to a Donley auction? Do the prices come down if no one bids on the opening price or do they just move on to the next item if a reserve is not met?

Thanks for the reminder Larry & Ken. Larry, as you wrote....I wonder what effect the presentation case had on the realized price...??.

I seem to recall one prior (no case) sold for around $3-$4 thousand at a show. Therefore, could a simple case double the value of one ?....I find that hard to imagine. However, any good toy collector will pay a high premium (sometimes double) for a toy with a box.....go figure.

I believe that this cased example was the first one in a very long time to come on the open market.

I saw one of these back in the late 1980's when I was a teen at the Antique Mall in Valparaiso, Indiana, it was on a external horn machine. I do not remember which one because back then I think the price was around $500.00 if I recall. I remember all the decorations around it.
