SOLD: Orthophonic Victrola 8-35, 1940s Conversion- $400

Post by HisMastersVoice »

While it's unfortunate that this fine example of an 8-35 was converted to electric (at least it's an RCA-Victor...), the cabinet is overall in great shape and would be a great candidate for restoration or parts for an 8-35 with a bad cabinet. All original albums are present, though most of the pages have mouse nibbles. Did not power on electric unit - that's not my area of expertise. I'm asking $400 or best offer.

What luck indeed! I really hope someone can bring this beauty back to original, it's way too nice.

Worthy project. Lack of nice cabinet and the albums are the usual drawbacks. If I didn't have a respectabl example, I'd have to seriously consider this offering. The sound is phenomenal, as is the styling. Love mine, play it daily.

Back in the day nobody wanted Victrolas such as these. My friend Arthur Pare who's in his 80's remembers back then you could get a Victrola for a few bucks in a second hand store. When someone updated it they didn't know they knocked the value of the 8-35 WAY DOWN to the cellar! :( I hope SOMEONE can bring it back to the original!edisonplayer

Price lowered to $500, would like to get this out of my garage - I believe there's a 1926 Ford Model T in there but I've yet to locate it.

It's too bad that someone turned that 8-35 into a damradio, but, hey, how were people in the 1940's to know that someday people would want it!edisonplayer PS;I'm glad someone bought it,and can turn it back to the way it was originally! :D
