I know it's a rare and valuable player but boy the shipping cost seems excessive!

Re: Edison Ideal on EBay
I don't think the shipping charges are out of line at all. The machine is probably worth $20,000 to $25,000 ant the insurance alone would probably would cost that much. I am surprised that he is even offering shipping on this machine. If I were the seller I would not, and if I was the buyer I would not want it shipped. I would arrange my own shipping or pick it up myself if possible.

I have to agree with the above. At least two boxes (double boxed), etc... Highend machine requires highend packing..rgordon939 wrote:I don't think the shipping charges are out of line at all. Gorgeous machine. The shipping seems totally fair to me for such a heavy and rare machine.

Re: Edison Ideal on EBay
I'd also like to point out that this is an Ideal, which means it's from the first 2 months of production before Edison changed the name to Idealia. The name had to be changed both because "Ideal", as a common English word, could not be trademarked in some countries, and because of prior use by others. (Frow, p.166)
This is a truly rare bird.
And I agree on not wanting to ship this - if I were to win this (which I won't), I'd definitely drive a huge distance to pick this up myself.

Re: Edison Ideal on EBay
The last Ideal(ia) at public auction was the Schlick Auction that I noticed, a long year ago went for $11K before buyers penalties. With penalties that would be 13K-14K. But ebay is a mystical place! John
