Victrola or Edison DD for better parts availability
As we know there are many reproduction parts available for disc talking machines. I would like to leave this topic to only include internal horn machines Edison & Victor Victrola. Which of the two has more reproduction parts or parts availability in general. I am under the impression that Victor Victrolas have more parts and more reproduction parts available than that of Edison Diamond Disc? Am I wrong?

From my (little) experience, I would say there are more Victor parts just due to the sheer number ov Victrolas made.

I agree, although There are a fair number of original Edison Parts floating around.GrafonolaG50 wrote:From my (little) experience, I would say there are more Victor parts just due to the sheer number ov Victrolas made.

Other than perhaps springs, there's really no need for reproduction parts for any Diamond Disc machine with the B-series motor. Original parts are very common and sturdy and (nearly) universally interchangeable.Phonoboy wrote:I agree, although There are a fair number of original Edison Parts floating around.GrafonolaG50 wrote:From my (little) experience, I would say there are more Victor parts just due to the sheer number ov Victrolas made.

I would agree. Even old motors are pretty easily findable with intact original springs. The A series is more problematic.52089 wrote:Other than perhaps springs, there's really no need for reproduction parts for any Diamond Disc machine with the B-series motor.
