Victrola or Edison DD for better parts availability

Post by Victrolacollector »

As we know there are many reproduction parts available for disc talking machines. I would like to leave this topic to only include internal horn machines Edison & Victor Victrola. Which of the two has more reproduction parts or parts availability in general. I am under the impression that Victor Victrolas have more parts and more reproduction parts available than that of Edison Diamond Disc? Am I wrong?

From my (little) experience, I would say there are more Victor parts just due to the sheer number ov Victrolas made.

I agree, although There are a fair number of original Edison Parts floating around.

Other than perhaps springs, there's really no need for reproduction parts for any Diamond Disc machine with the B-series motor. Original parts are very common and sturdy and (nearly) universally interchangeable.

I would agree. Even old motors are pretty easily findable with intact original springs. The A series is more problematic.
