Hi guys,
Wondering if any of you know how to expose the gearing on the two/four minute adjusting know on the late columbia machines. Mine is a bit sticky on the 4 min, and tends too jump out of the 4 min notch, so I'd like to get in there and figure out what's going on.

Re: Columbia BET 2/4min Gearing
I have run into this problem myself. I don't know how to take the 2/4 gearing apart, because it looks difficult, and probably a pain to put back together. I take the upper works with bedplate off of the case. Then I would remove the motor. I would flip the mechanism upside down and liberally spray with PB blaster. Then I would flip the mechanism to it's rightful position over lots of paper towels to catch the drippings. Then I would lubricate the whole upper works and attach the motor. I would lubricate the motor, gears, etc. Then, I would do several dry runs without the reproducer to break in the 2/4 min attachment. That's what I did with my 2/4 BET, and BE, and it works great.
