Edison Spring Motor phonograph -- appeal for information
Dear All, I have a question regarding an Edison Spring Motor model phonograph. I am hoping someone on the forum may have had far more experience with the larger Edison models than I have. I am aware that the " Spring Motor " model preceded and was later replaced by the Edison " Triumph " model. I have recently acquired an Edison Spring Motor model , but it does not have its original carriage that holds the reproducer . My question is this : Would a carriage from a later " Triumph " fit ok on a " Spring Motor " or are there slight dimensional differences between the two models ? I also am aware that the carriage on the Triumph is in two parts -- the actual arm that hold the reproducer and the sleeve that glides along the slide-rod and also has the feed-nut spring - arm attached , whereas in the smaller Edison models , the arm and sleeve are indeed one casting. I have the actual arm , but not the sleeve !! The reason I ask is that I probably stand a better chance of finding an incomplete " Triumph " mechanism to rob for parts than trying to locate an earlier distressed " Spring Motor " mech. Any help from knowledgable members would be much appreciated. Thank you ! Dulcetto

Dulcetto,
The carriage from a later Triumph will indeed fit on an earlier Spring Motor. If you have the sleeve from the Spring Motor, all you'll need is the carriage.
Good luck!
