The Barrelhouse Jazz Gang - Tom Pickering, Col Wells

Post by CDBPDX »

I was just looking through a box of records I got some time ago and found this record.

I believe this is a recording of an Australian jazz group featuring the folks below:

Col Wells (trumpet)
Tom Pickering (clarinet)
Ian Pearce (trombone)
Keith Stackhouse (piano)
Geoff Sweeney (guitar)
Ced Pearce (drums)

I posted the recordings to YouTube:

Is this a test pressing or something?

Thanks! Cliff

I found out this is an Australian label AMPERSAND #19.

Still don't know if it is a test pressing or just a regular issue with the labels peeled off. The run-in and out is a bit weird for a regular issue record...

Nice record... You could reprint that label for the one side at least... or both if you have a pic of the other side.

What a great band! I usually don't appreciate the post-war recordings of this style a lot, but this one is really fun listening too. Thanks for posting!

I would probably keep a copy of the label above along with the record but never would dare to actually glue it on, just my personal view...
