FOR SALE: Brunswick Model Arden - $100.00
I have a Brunswick Model Arden from 1923 that I have recently inherited. I'm not exactly a phonograph fan but certainly appreciate and respect the history of this machine. I would prefer it to go to a good home of someone who will take care of it and enjoy it. It is fully functional as far as I can tell. It winds up just fine and plays records. It comes with a variety of records. I don't know the condition of the records because I'm just not knowledgeable enough to tell if they are in good condition or not. All of the records I have tried to play have played though. They mostly consist of classical concerts, including a full album of Beethoven live in paris. They also include some records from a subscription to columbia records and some kids records. I live in Lancaster SC just south of Charlotte NC incase anyone is interested in coming to pick it up. I am asking $100 for the whole set of records and the machine. I have attached some pictures. Feel free to ask me anything else you would like to know about the machine and I will answer them to the best of my ability. Thanks -JJ

Well, might be a tad difficult to realise the price you're asking on account of it's....brevity.

You're going to have a hard time finding a buyer for several reasons. First, it's a console, meaning it's wider than it is tall. Collectors dislike these because they take up too much floor space. Second, as another poster noted, the legs have been shortened, which now makes this a damaged machine in the eyes of a collector. Third, Brunswick machines are not as sought after as Victor, or Edison machines (among others). There are desirable Brunswicks, notably the later pseudo-Orthophonic machines like the Cortez, but I know of no one who is specifically looking for an "Arden".
Your best bet may be Craigslist, but you will probably have to reduce your asking price significantly.

To echo your sentiments. It was one of Brunswick's least expensive models and lacked the Ultona 3 disc reproducer as well.52089 wrote:You're going to have a hard time finding a buyer for several reasons. This is why I love forums! One can learn so much and get an honest opinion about things. Well, I guess then i will take some good advise and try craigslist. I will also reduce the price on this site to see of it sparks anyones interest.
