VV-XVII Walnut restoration video, Hallelujah I'm a Bum
I would first like to thank this forum for countless nights of reading old threads, which led me to try my hand at this undertaking last winter. On the other hand, a pox on your house, since it has led to many nights....alone...in my basement...
Here is the original thread http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... =2&t=23717. Thanks again, and I am open to suggestions and tips for future projects...

Please give details on the recording. Is this by any chance "Haywire Mac" singing?
The tune is a recurrent theme in Chaplin's Modern Times.
Beautiful restoration, and it sounds terrific!

Re: VV-XVII Walnut restoration video, Hallelujah I'm a Bum
I'm glad you all enjoyed it, and thank you for the kind words. I enjoyed the project so much, that I took on a broken, battered and beaten VV-IV this past summer.(I have a few others on the bench, but need a few missing parts to get them running. As you can see, I'm missing a knob on the IV, what you may not see is the non swirl knob on the volume door of the XVII) As far as the record, it's on the Oriole Label, which sold only through McCrory's for $.25. Maybe someone else has more info. The singer is "Dick Holmes" ;A side was "Hallelujah I'm a Bum"; B side "I Wish I were Single Again". Both songs are very fun, and I hope to use the B side on a future video restoration of the IV.I may do a sound comparison on the 2 machines also if the mood hits me.I love the idea of the high end vs the entry level. Here are a few pictures till then. Thank you all again. Gary

If I was to have just one machine...this Walnut gem would be it. Can I ask how you came to find this beauty?
