Your machine may well be a Nirona, but the soundbox appears to be missing. See the rather old picture below showing a complete example. The shell shaped sound reflector may have the German Patent Numbers 299390 and 300262 on it.

Well, comparing Epigramophone's picture with yours, your crank seems to be correct, and it seems to be in the correct position. If no other signs of tampering, then I suspect Thorens suppled motors to Nirona. This suggests yours is correct.

The tone chamber is definitely a Nirona , I have seen several of these machines over the years , but the tone chamber was always mounted on the top as the picture already posted not as yours appears to be mounted on the side , can you post some more pictures of the case all sides and insides ?

Re: What machine is it?
Thorens were major suppliers of components to the UK and European gramophone industry, and even supplied complete machines to retailers who badged them as their own. Nirona may not have been a large enough company to justify making their own motors, so it is possible that motors marked as Nirona were in fact supplied by Thorens. In the UK Columbia were Garrard's biggest customer for motors, and Garrard stamped the Columbia name on them.Turruz wrote:That was My question.. maybe in the past thorens maked the motors for the nirona models or not?
A collector friend is restoring a gramophone with a small motor marked Nirona, and urgently needs a governor for it. Has anyone got one to spare?
