Edison Gem, Model B Wooden Case
I have several Edison Gems and all are missing the wooden base. I have one lid. Since I have several, I am contemplating making the bases for them or having them made. However, I will need the dimensions for the base. I can figure out the smaller wooden pieces mounted on the top of the piece (would be under the actual phonograph)I just need the dimensions across the front and down the side, along with the thickness of the piece. I would also appreciate the thickness and depth of the groove around the base. I want to see how difficult this project might be. Doesn't look too difficult but that might be a mistake. Also, what wood would be used to make this? Thanks for any help.

They should be easy to make, assuming you have a planer and a router table. The wood is probably oak, from what I remember (I sold mine several years ago). It would be best to use wood from an old scrap cabinet to make it match. The profile for the molding edge can be duplicated if you have the correct router bit or can be made using several bits with several passes... hope this helps. I don't have the dimensions, but I am sure someone else will help with that.

The gentleman that has the Wayne Show (Mike D.) (973) 655-9730 might make them too.

Thank you guys for the information you have provided, however what I really want to do is make some myself. This will require the measurements that I previously mentioned, so if anyone can provide them I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Hi Guys. I just wanted to say that I am still looking for the measurements of the wooden base for an Edison Gem as per my original posting. Hope someone will be able to provide it. Thanks.
