Apologies to those that I owe records to...as commented on in an earlier post, sometimes life throws a few curve balls....and I've had to change up priorities on the fly a few times this year...to be expected I guess when family members start to get into their mid-80's...so prayers for my Dad are appreciated...
I have begun production again (on a limited basis) primarily to fill all the outstanding orders that have backed up. I've also made one new cylinder mold (Don't Bring Lulu by Jones and Hare).
I know there are a couple other collectors who have original Edison lateral Mother/Daughter/Stampers in their collections, but I just got my first....not a great title but you just can't be choosy when it comes to something this rare....I made a quick, rough copy from the 'mother' to see (hear) what the recording is. I plan to make a couple copies of the "daughter" in 2017 if anyone is interested...(the daughter is a positive, so it can be played)
a portion of the recording is here: https://youtu.be/ChJw51IPiFQ
...and "don't bring lulu" is here: https://youtu.be/5OpuQ-3kgWk
"Lulu" has a bit of bounce...the original I copied is a bit 'egg shaped' towards the non-title end and I could only correct slightly when I made the mold...but as you can hear it plays through quite nicely!
Thank you again for your support and patience!
-Rob

Nice job on the records...
I also saw on youtube a few videos of what appear to be new releases of some nice titles....
Highways are Happy Ways
Sonny Boy
Black Bottom
Are these in production? or something in the future?
All the best,
Jerry

Jerry - the titles you mentioned are not mine. They are Norman's. But yeah, really good titles. Norman always seems to know just the right titles to offer.
Thanks,
Rob

A really nice lateral recording. I am wondering if this may be played with a steel needle or must it be played with a modern cartridge pickup?

Well done, Rob, a clear thumbs up! It's a very deep and full-range recording.
Now I couldn't resist and have uploaded and excerpt of my derived stamper record from last year:

Let's see, how loung YooToob will keep this up before bothering...
I did not know what was on mine until after I bought it and later looked up the matrix number. The derived record is also far from perfect and yes, it does only play properly on modern equipment. A fibre needle should work but this is my only copy so far and I don't want to mess with that one.
Must go now...my flight is scheduled for tomorrow.

Very nice copy of a great title... I would not mind having a copy of that.WDC wrote:Well done, Rob, a clear thumbs up! It's a very deep and full-range recording.
