Phonograph springs

I am seeking a source for small (one inch or less) extension springs using very fine wire that allow a 2 to 1 extension. Most springs in the chain hardware stores use heavier wire allowing a very limited extension. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What machine does it go to? What is the spring supposed to do? Is it a tensioner spring? Horn Spring?

The small springs are very flexible and are used in the activation mechanism of a Hexaphone. After the coin drop, they allow the listener to wind the mechanism and select the cylinder to be played. One is 1 inch long and the other about ⅝". Similar small flexible springs are also attached to the reproducer to assist as the stylus moves on and off the cylinder

Are there any hobby shops in your area? You may be able to find various gauges of music wire, from which you could wind your own springs.
