Vintage Arabic Music Collection

Post by CDBPDX »

Just got a nice collection of vintage Arabic music on 78 rpm records from Goodwill. A few of them actually had sleeves, which I've not seen before.

About 6 years ago, I came across another group of Arabic 78s and at that time, they were quite rare and expensive. I've noticed that the price for these has gone down considerably since then. I'm wondering if it is because they are no longer as rare as they used to be (in the USA) with so many soldiers returning home from Arabic regions, with many of them perhaps returning with Arabic records...

Anyway, here is the latest collection:

Enjoy! Cliff

Nice ! Still a little hope at Goodwill from time to time it appears, though not for me. :(

I always am ready to buy any interesting "ethnic" discs that are laying about. If you like same, here's some interesting sites :

That's a nice selection of music you've found, Cliff.
Thanks for the links.
This past year I got a nice selection of Greek music from the 20s and 30s.

I came across a nice collection of Greek 78s at a living estate sale. The items belonged to a fellow who was moving to a retirement home and needed to downsize. I talked to him and found out this collection of Greek records were his father's and he hadn't heard them since he was a kid. Initially, he did not want to sell the collection, but I told him I would record them and give him a copy, so he sold them to me. I mailed a CD with the songs and pictures of the record labels. Got a very nice note back from his wife saying how happy he was to hear these again. Felt good.

Here is the collection:
