What's the difference between an early spear tip horn and a late one? I never know there was a difference.

What's the difference between an early spear tip horn and a late one?

One difference might be that the "button" that fits into the slot on the elbow faces up rather than down. The decal should be on the same side as the crank and right-side up, and late elbows have the slot on the top. Of course a loose collar can be rotated into this position.
