FOR SALE: L-door Victrola XVI, whole or parts - Inquire

Post by 52089 »

I have had a nice mahogany L-door here for a few years now and am not using it. It was sold some years ago to a board member who could not complete the sale due to illness. You can see the machine here:

There is one cosmetic issue in that the front right corner of the cabinet is damaged. It has been stained to minimize the visual impact, but I have been told by more than one person that this is the primary reason it has not sold.

There is also a minor mechanical issue in that the motor tops out around 70 rpm. This is because the round speed control limits the motion of the speed control arm. One could bend the arm to get the machine fully up to speed, but I'll leave that to the next owner. I did attempt to adjust the speed by moving the governor, but I was unsuccessful. You may have more luck than I did.

I would prefer to sell the machine intact, but as there have been no takers, I will part it out on request. The record boxes are no longer available.

I would like $425 for the machine as is (i.e., no record boxes, no drawer).

If I part it out, I would be asking $300 for the motor, with board, speed control, brake, turntable, and hold-down. I understand the motor is also correct for a Victor V or VI.

I will respond to offers for other parts - doors, knobs, reproducer, tonearm, lid, shelf, etc.

I am in the Framingham, Mass. area (01701) if you want to come by or get a shipping estimate. You would have to pick up, I can't deliver. (Of course I can ship any parts, just not the whole machine.)

Please PM with any interest or questions.
