ICS Attachment for listening

I picked up this attachment to add to my ICS standard C. I was wondering if these were used on all machines or were an add on to make it easier . It just slides over the repeater and can be moved around a little. What is the purpose of the pointer on the left side.?? Does that line up to the end of a record??

Cool Attachment! I haven't ever seen that one.. The Edison Standard Business Machines did have something similar though.

Nice Find!

Would be a cool item to repro in limited numbers.. since so few probably survive..
