Standard model C feed screw difference

I am restoring a standard model C and ran into a problem. It would not play correctly. I had cannibalized a standard B for this but the feed screw did not seem right. Checked with a few people and located a Model C feed screw which is different from a B or D. A model Ds gears and mandrel though will fit a C. I wanted to keep it original. See pics. Tom B

One thing that I do know is that the Standard Model D's feedscew threads are completely reversed from a Standard Model B's feedscrew threads. Something to heavily consider and keep in mind here. That may be your issue. Check out the direction of the way that the threads go on the feedscew....Just because it fits, Doesn't always mean that it will work!

***Model A,B,C Standards have a "RIGHT HAND" feedscrew, while a Model D Standard has a "LEFT HAND" feedscrew.

Thanks Tony for the information. I had tried the Ds gears and mandrel on it and they were compatible . I noticed the common holes on the base plate. I was going to cannibalize those gears and the case from one of many Ds I have but I wanted to keep it as original as I could make it . It would have been nice to have the easy 2/4 gears but I can add a converter if I want. It would have been cheaper too. I cannibalized a B and had to purchase a bunch of parts. I was surprised about the worm screw for the C. It is an individual one and wondered if people knew it was different. The standard C was smartly set up by Edison to be the platform for all of the rest of the Edison's C,D,E,and F. If I find a A/B gear cover next year I may convert it. I have too many projects going now. I am bringing back to life a suitcase home A and a 4 clip standard A. Tom B

I have many parts machines and cabinets for standards and homes (suitcase model too). May have something you can use.

YEA someone else to help restore Edison's. My problem is I buy a part machine and can not let it go. I will need parts for a standard 4 clip Tom B

That sounds like me! Except I have SOOO many projects going now it's hard to get a machine project completed! The hard thing for the 2 and 4 clip standards are the clips (at least in nice shape), and the crank (and maybe shaver pieces)!! I like all the different variations I have seen with the motors and even the on/off lever. Nothing major--just little differences here and there--like Edison is known for--use up what you have and get the machines sold!!
