Do not hate me reproduction crank for a 2 clip standard A

I could not seem to win a bid or locate a crank for my standard two clip so I ordered one from Wyatt's Musical. It has the correct hole size and length. I added the medallion to the side. It turned out nice and is a nice fit ...I marked the inside of the crank reproduction. The standard crank was loose when I used it. Tom B

Why should we hate you, I would have done exactly the same thing! I really appreciate the fact that there's people making reproductions and spares, this has let me to revive quite easily gramophones that were otherwise condemned to eternal silence. I also think that two gramophones rehauled with reproduction parts are *way* better than one gramophone 100% original and another scrapped for parts.

Didn't the early standard come with just a simple bent flat stock crank?I have only seen this style crank on Homes, Spring Motors, and maybe a Concert to two.

I thought the two clip standard had the crank medallion on the crank ... I brought a medallion crank for my home and it ran over $300. I can put these side by side in a pic if you want to see the difference in workmanship. The two and four clip standard have a smaller shaft that the crank goes on. That is why I had it made as a standard crank was loose on it. Tom B

They'll custom make these for the two clip? That's good news because I'm in the same boat... two clip machine but no crank.

No, the Standard two- and four-clip machines (with very, very few exceptions) used a crank of a different design - and never with a medallion. The early Standard crank is illustrated in this article on the Antique Phonograph Society web site:

Am I looking at the crank correctly thru my out of adjustment bifocals, as it looks like it has a threaded shafts handle and arm with the slotted shaft attached.? It looks thinner than a normal slotted crank. I will start looking for the real (McCoy) crank next year unless I see one this year and I can put my first born in hock for it. Always seem to find a way for that important part. I do want an all as close as possible original 2 clip. Thanks for the info George you must have a photo memory??? Tom B

The early Standard cranks are indeed thinner than the later S-shaped slotted cranks. Below are a few poorly-lit quick photos.
