Record cabinet

Post by oldtvsandtoys »

Can anyone tell me any thing about this record cabinet? I just bought it and don't know anything about it. Also what is it worth?

I think it is a very interesting record cabinet. I'd speculate that it was made for a particular machine because of the configuration of the top corners. The early table Victrolas XI and XII sat our rounds pads at each corner. I believe the table Victrola X sat on square pads. It would be interesting to see if it fit correctly. If the spacing in the cabinet is wide, perhaps it is for a Diamond Disc. Jerry Blais

I think it is for a table Model DD. Model escapes me but I had one like it 20 years ago with the phonograph.

Judging from the styling, it might have been made for a VV-IX.

The only Edison table models with square feet, as far as I know, were the wood-case 60 and the B-19: the one photo of a 60 I have seen with a matching cabinet is of a much different, "Mission" style. The finish on this cabinet seems to be mahogany, which I do not think was offered on either model.

The best test is to measure the 'footprint' of the top: some research should lead you to a model that fits it.

The top is 18" X 22" and they said " a very late Victor Victrola IX fits well at the corners" Any thought on value?

Yes Jerry, I believe that is correct, the XI and XII had round feet and the X had square
