Date estimation of Edison cylinder phonograph?

Post by erinescence »

Hi,
I have an Edison Standard phonograph reserved in my name to purchase in a few days, and I was wondering if anyone could help me put a date on the machine.
The serial number is 42-5065.

I can attach photos (from original online listing) if needed.

The serial number you show has a hyphen in it. Original Edison Standard serial numbers do not. Can you check that number again?

Sorry, didn't mean to put the hyphen. Just 425065.

I suspected as much, but confirmation eliminates any confusion. :)

Edison Standard No.425065 left the factory about March 1907.

Hope this helps - -
