SOLD: Victor R - $600

Post by Roaring20s »

Offered here is a very nice performing Victor R and a nice Berliner disc.

The strong motor functions smoothly with enough power play a 10” record on a full wind.
No thumps or bumps.
The reproducer’s gasket is hard and still performs well.
A good looking Talking Machine that is ready to display and be enjoyed.

Please review the photos.

Thanks for looking,
James.

Nice machine, but I have a question about it. Is the oxidized finish worn off to bare metal? Or did the earliest Victor R have a nickel finish?

Thanks for you question, Harvey.

Only traces of the finish are on the two of the vertical case corners as-well-as the crank escutcheon.
It is hard to see in the photos. All else is long gone.

James.

I have had another inquiry.
The question was about the reproducer and the absence of the pin that sets the angle for the needle.

There is no evidence of a pin there.
I took off the back and the screws look very clean.
The neck, when tapped sounds like aluminum and is not magnetic.
The flat disc with the screws are magnetic.
This leads me to say that the long throat backing is an adaptor.

Nice. Glad to see it found a home.

If being able to re- create the correct finish was part of my skill set I would have snapped it up. Unfortunately that's a talent and some know- how I lack. :(
