Wanted: cheap gramophone horns and arms for art project

Post by LaVic »

Hi guys!
I am working on a large scale art installation in Oakland, CA, called 'La Victrola'- a celebration of early live and recorded music in the form of a 35-foot tall steel and wood gramophone (yes - we know that the name is technically wrong but it was supposed to be a nod to another sculpture, sorry for that).
We are looking for 7 different sized gramophone horns (and arms) for a smaller sculpture that's part of the overall concept. If any of you have some [crappy] horns laying around (crapophones would be fine too) and would like to get rid of them, we'd love to take them. If you'd be willing to donate them - even better! Money is unfortunately a big issue as it's surprisingy costly to build a ten ton steel gramophone...
I enclosed a picture how our piece (the .75 version without the box) looked like at burning man this year. And here are some links to press articles that mentioned us in 2016: https://storify.com/zgummer/la-victrola-in-the-news
Thank you!
Peter
