It doesn't make sense that there are allegedly 10,000 topics, but only 93,093 posts...that's not possible. Something is broken.

Why? If you look at the total site posts overall, and divide by the number of topics, you get, on average, 6.5 posts per topic. Looking at Machines only, you have 93,093 divided by 10,000, or 9.3 posts per topic, which seems very reasonable, since on the overall site numbers you have classifieds, which get minimal replies, and other "low reply" categories factored in.

Just looking at the latest 25 topics shown in Machines and dividing by the total number of replies, (262), you get an average of 10.49 replies per topic, which is fairly consistent with 9.3 replies/posts per topic, as derived from the calculation above. Fairly representative, considering the small sample size of 25 topics.

I'm not sure that is correct, however. The official count on the backend is much smaller, I resynchronized the topic count and it didn't change. I'm guessing there's a problem with the counter you are looking at, this one is correct for sure. Sorry to burst your bubble!

If you add these two columns together, it pretty much agrees with your overall numbers. However, it comes up 800 short on posts and 40 short on topics. Wasn't there an extra forum subsection that you deleted sometime back, maybe a couple years ago? Perhaps the 40 & 800 were part of that?

Not that this of any significance at all, but what we are looking at here is stating that there are more topics than posts. There has to be at LEAST one post per topic for the topic to even exist. So, if there are 10,000 topics, but less than 10,000 posts...something is wrong. You can see that in the other categories, the posts outnumber the topics as they should. Just trying to understand what's going on here. Whether the forum is broken or I've simply taken too much medication.
