I think it's an HMV Model 14. It's shown on pgs. 92-93 in His Masters Gramophone by Oakley and Proudfoot (2011). The decal gives it away.

My knowledge of HMV machines is very limited. Was this cabinet made in the US? Would parts like the doors, etc. be interchangeable with a VV-XVII? Jerry

I think it's an HMV Model 14. It's shown on pgs. 92-93 in His Masters Gramophone by Oakley and Proudfoot (2011). The decal gives it away.

Based on the style of tonearm used--if original to the cabinet--this is probably the HMV 201. Looking over "HMV Gramophones -- 1921-1936" by Barry Williamson, the same cabinet was used for the Model 14 as well as the electric motor version 15, in 1921. In the 1924 catalog, it appears as the 200. In 1926, it's identified as the model 201 and 211. Unlike Victor, which produced a whole new line of Orthophonic models, following the introduction of electrical recording in 1925, the Gramophone Co. refitted some of its existing cabinet stock with new tone chambers. A gradually tapering (swan neck style) tonearm coupled with a No. 4 sound box was fitted to a very long saxophone shaped horn. The horn, itself, extended down into the record compartment, which was partially blocked off to accommodate the bend.

While not as powerful as the later Re-Entrant Gramophones--which were based on the Orthophonic Victrolas and introduced in 1927--these short lived "new style" gramophones did a very good job of reproducing the extended range of electrical recordings.
