Need help identifying this Victor

Post by rgordon939 »

Can anyone help me identify this Victor Victrola? It's in an estate sale tomorrow about 20 minutes from me. Any help appreciated.

Just looks like a typical XI, with incorrect knobs. Why the interest?

I didn't the XI had the fancy carving on the corner post this one has. Maybe it's a V-100?

Too early for a VV-110; lid is early high-dome style.

Front leg carvings look like early XIV.

Early XIV has gold hardware and no curves. The carvings don't seem special. The edge of the left side looks carved, but I think that's actually just pixelation.

I'm pretty sure it's definitely an XI.

Still early - look how the exhibition rests on top of the tapering arm ...

Rich, I had an XI like that made in 1913. The deep lid and spoon carvings at top of the legs set it apart from the plainer versions that came later.

Agreeing with others, my money says it's a XI, pre-"fat"-tone arm, so no later than 1918. Looks just like my 1917 VV-XI #370333G (1917) but with wrong knobs, as mentioned. The only other difference I can see between mine and the one in the picture is that mine has the lid prop on the left side, not the right side.

Later: Whoops! disregard above about the lid prop. Mine is indeed on the right, just like the one pictured. The needle cups are on the left. Sorry about that
