Passing of collector John Wiedey

Post by AudioAntique »

It is with sadness that we report the passing of a long-time collector and friend, John Wiedey of Wadsworth, OH, on Monday Jan.9. John was a lifelong collector with a passion for Edison and phonographs. As a long-time member of MAPS, he attended conventions and was always eager to share his wealth of information and stories of collecting experiences. In researching our book on phonograph dolls and toys, John and his wife Frances, provided us with a wealth of information. John’s thoughtful, analytical perspective always provided interesting conversation. Their Victorian home was the perfect venue to display their collection of phonographs, dolls and toys. This past October part of their collection was sold at the Stanton auction. Those who knew John will recollect his soft-spoken dry humor. Regretfully new collectors to our hobby have not had the opportunity to know John, who had a passion for his hero Thomas Edison since he was a teenager. We express our sympathy to his wife Frances who enjoyed the hobby and to their family.
